International Understanding
UNESCO Associated School Project network (ASP net)
The ASPnet (UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network) work in support of peace and international cooperation to achieve the ideals set forth in the UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization) Charter. More than 12,000 educational institutions in 182 member states are participating in the ASPnet. Of these there are 369 pre-schools, elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools and teacher training colleges and universities from Japan.
UNESCO Associated Schools work in the four basic fields
Learning to know
(Prepare for understanding a complex world and lay the groundwork for future learning)
Learning to do
(Develop the skills to function in a globalizing economy and society)
Learning to be
(Cultivate a balanced emotional and physical condition that allows individuals to harness their intellectual and social potential.)
Learning to live together
(Exposure to human rights, democracy, cross-cultural understanding and respect, peace and human relations at all levels of society so that individuals and society can coexist peacefully.)
